Benteke OUT at least six months, misses FIFA World Cup

Aston Villa's talismanic striker Christian Benteke will miss the World Cup with Belgium after tearing his Achilles tendon in training. He will be ruled out for at least six months according to the club but it's likely to be longer.

The 23-year-old, whose long-term future at Villa was said to be uncertain, had been expected to be part of Marc Wilmots's squad for the tournament in Brazil this summer and was an integral part of Paul Lambert's struggling Villa outfit.

"It’s a terrible blow both for Christian and for the club. He will miss the rest of the season and also the World Cup. But he’ll work hard because that’s what he does and he’ll come back for us stronger than ever next season" said Paul Lambert.
